I am currently working on my PhD degree in the field of rocket combustion simulation at the University of the federal armed forces in Munich, Germany. The main challenges are combustion modelling, real gas thermophysics and subgrid turbulence modelling. OpenFOAM delivers the framework in these fields, but needs to be adapted to the specific requirements of rocket combustion simulation.
